Obeliai primary school - “Learning by playing”

third-graders (9 – 10-year-old children), teachers and creators participated in
the “Creative Partnerships” project.
The objective set was to discover and better understand how to improve the learning process for pupils to learn to express their opinion and listen to others. The participants were analysing and trying out, what conditions are needed for learners to be able to faster improve in the areas of linguistic expression and dialogue.
During the project, learners were studying communication culture and how to better express their thoughts, feelings and moods using words, improved their language skills through playing various games organized by creative practitioners at the same time creating a new educational board game.
The area of focus was development of learners’ speaking skills and expression of thoughts by creating games.

Children
were creating stories for the new board game. Finally they voted for the most
interesting one – “A prince in the mirror”. Learners were involved in the whole process - from the idea and theme of the game, to implementation - illustrations and making the very figures of the board game.
During the whole creative process children were working in pairs and always switching to new partners, so they got possibility to know and trust each other better and developed good cooperation skills.
The initiative started by the children of regional Obeliai primary school turned into the website for the methodology of educational games, which is getting popular and is constantly updated and supplemented by visitors.
